Herb Mosher was born in Quincy, MA, and grew up in the Boston area. After graduating from Catholic Memorial High School, Herb attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine where he received his BA in 1965. Herb studied under Drs. John Senior, Dennis Quinn and Frank Nelick at the University of Kansas while teaching in the KU Integrated Humanities Program. Herb was one of the three founders of St. Paul’s School in Spring Hill, Kansas. From 1970-1974, Herb taught composition and literature at Tuskegee Institute, a historically Black college founded by Booker T. Washington. After serving in several healthcare administration positions, Herb returned to teaching at Wyoming Catholic College where he also directed the school’s Development Office. Herb served as the president of the Catholic People’s Foundation in Gallup from 2015 until his recent retirement in 2022.

He and his wife, Mary, live on a small ranch outside of Gallup, New Mexico. The Moshers have two adult daughters: Mary Kathleen who teaches mid-school math in Buckinghamshire, England and Margaret Anne who has completed her Ph.D in special education.
